Tulip is our female pug, and she is two years old. Tulip fits the breed's description of "a lot of dog in a little package" so perfectly. This is why Tulip's tongue always sticks out a little. Pint size pug, full size tongue. She's always quick to pipe up and let you know if you're too slow making dinner, forgetting to give her treats, or taking too long to come see her when you get home. She loves to cuddle with her brother Wally and to rough house with her brother Norman. Tulip is just so cute when she's looking up at you and trying to Jedi mind trick "treat" into your head. We love her.

Dog of The Day-12-26-2019

   Coco is our three-year-old Border Collie, she lives with her human parents in WV. She has been a only pet since losing two siblings in 2017 her 10 year old sheltie brother Robbie and her 17 year old sister Cattle dog Zoe. Then she lost her cat sister Belle in 2018 Coco is a pure joy and also is a handful  She keeps us old folks busy. She loves all her toys and her yard, if it isnt raining and muddy she will be in the yard. She wants to wish everyone a very merry Christmas  

     We got her because our mixed cattle dog rescue Zoe was 16 1/2 years old and we wanted our ten-year-old Sheltie to have a playmate, and not be so sad when she died. Sadly he died unexpectedly,  about three months after we got her. Then Zoe lived to the ripe old age of 17 ( she died seven months after Robbie due to a stroke).Coco is super smart, she runs the family and gets what she wants. She knows several words, car, treat, park, Daddy etcetera, so we do a lot of spelling.  

     She is very active and I guess because she is an only pet she demands for us to play ball with her. She will come to the door and bark and heard one of us out Coco was digging holes when she was 1 year old, and we had to keep filling them. She was bored so we made hurdles and hoops in the yard and she loved It! She stopped her digging. She is so different from our other four dogs We had a half border collie mix from rescue (our first dog) and she is a little like her, but more intense and demanding. Coco has her own mind and if you try and change it no way! If she wants or brings you her red football and you throw her frisbee, she will not catch it and wait for her ball. We  love her deeply and she keeps the whole family on our toes. She has been a huge comfort, because we have lost not only our dear Zoe and Robbie but also many family members since 2017. Even through she is full of energy she is so loving and affectionate and super obedient, being in our late 60s it would be impossible if she wasn't such a well-behaved girl.

   I'd like to introduce my little Peke, Mugsie Boges. Mugsie turned seven years old this fall. Six years ago on Thanksgiving weekend something told me to go our town animal shelter. I wasn't looking for a dog, but I had this nagging feeling and while I didn't know why, I just knew I had to go to the shelter.  Even though the shelter was closed, I went. As l circled around the fenced perimeter, there on the very lastÂ indoor/outside run was a little ball of tan fluff with a pushed in face. I caught my breath. Surely it wasn't a Peke? I had been raised with Pke's as a child in New York, but this was Texas cattle and horse country. What was a little Peke doing out here? Did they even know what a Peke was around here?!   

     By Sunday night I couldn't stand it anymore and called the animal shelter to leave a message. Monday morning the call came, and no, Â he was no one's pet, Â in act not one person has asked after him. I told them I would be right there. I was at work at the time and ran into my manager's office to tell her I had a small emergency (?!) and would be gone a little while. Once at the animal shelter, gate opened, a little ball of fluff flew into my arms, clammered up my neck and buried my face in kisses.  "I'll take him!", was all I could get out.  And that's how Mugsie Boges came to live with us.  Mugsie enjoys sleeping, playing with his toys, pupperoni's, kissing his best friend Chloe - our chow/golden and doing the back stroke on dry land when we say Mugsie, SWIM SWIM!!, and driving cross country with us to see his Grandparents and their English Bull Dog Sarge.

   This is Batman! He's the smallest full-grown dog I've ever seen. He is mostly Chihuahua - 75%, and the rest is 12.5% Lhasa Apso, and 12.5% Papillon. He is brave, funny, and needed a strong name to compensate for his delicate size, so that's why he is named after the superhero Batman.  

     He loves walks and getting his paws all muddy does not bother him. There's too much to see and sniff to stay clean! He is such a character, too. He sings when I play the piano and he can "talk". I love him, he is my favorite photo subject and my friend.

   Yago is my best friend. He is just too sweet and he's the kind of dog that l call "smart." He knows when he's right and when he's wrong. So, he is a mixed breed but l think he's better than some purebreds I have seen.  

     He loves children like me, and he loves playing. He doesen't need toys to play he just plays with everything and with anyone! He's  playful like me and so we agree every time ! He doesen't love training, but it's okay because he's already like a trained dog. What makes my pet most special is that he hugs me. He is my friend.
