Dog of The Day-1-10-2020


Name:	Astro	Age:	One year old
Gender:	Female	Breed:	Border Collie, Labrador Retriever mix
Home:	Tipton, Indiana, USA

stro came into my life this past August when a friend of mine found her living on the streets near our city. My family took her in and it was a perfect match. She's everything we asked for and more. Intelligent, curious, loyal, loving, I could go on and on. Astro is my heart dog, and I wouldn't trade her for the world. We say she is a Borador (Border Collie x Black Labrador mix).

Astro is a sweetheart and she's always willing to give out hugs and kisses! She's a perfect cuddle buddy because she just wraps herself around you. She's too big to be a lap dog but shh, don't tell her that, because she loves to crawl into my lap when I'm watching tv. And as much as a lovebug as she is, she's still a Huge Adventurer! We take her on at least one walk a day (weather permitting!) and she wants to go everywhere and see everything no matter where we take her. She loves meeting new people and is pretty up for meeting new doggies too, as long as they're nice.

I like to call her a fashionista because she loves wearing the bandanas I've got for her!! She'll try to hold on to them whenever we have to take it off. Her favorite toy is a stuffed flamingo that my family has named Steve, and she's smart enough to understand if we say "Go get Steve!" to her because she'll go get him every time!! Which in my opinion, is super impressive, but I might be a little biased.

   Pierre is over ten years old and a Bichon Frise.  He lives in Northern Minnesota on the White Earth Indian Reservation.  He was my Grandmother's dog until she passed away two years ago.  When she was alive we called him Dumptruck because he was so fat! Like many grandmothers, she liked feeding him, cuddling and spoiling him - just a bit too much for his own good. 

     Now that he's with my cousins, he's slimmed down considerably.  Being with younger, more active people has given him new energy.  Also, he does not have many teeth left!! But we love him just as he is. He's an adorable Senior Citizen don't you think?

   Koko is our little Manchester Terrier, she is a rescue, so we don't know her age for certain. The vet guessed her age when we got her, so we think she is now six or seven years old.  

     Koko is such a sweet girl, and is always ready to show her team spirit, whether for the Tampa Bay Rays during baseball seaon, or the Bucaneers during football season. She likes getting dressed up, and given her breed's super short fur, will even wear a sweater if it gets too chilly. She has settled in nicely, and discovered the joys of a good nap on the couch. It is amazing how much couch she can take up, given her petite size! She is so sweet, and has become an important member of the family and the community. We love her very much.

   Emma is the sweetest dog I have ever known.  We found her at the SPCA a year ago.  According to the SPCA, her previous owners were not able to give her enough attention.  We feel the previous owners missed out on a truly wonderful dog.  All she wants to do from the moment she wakes up until the moment she goes to sleep is be with us.  Her favorite activities are licking (nearly anything), playing ball, snuggling, playing with her kitty, Andy, eating cookies (dog biscuits), socializing with everyone, and barking at the neighbor dogs.  She thinks she is a person.  She is "the life of the party" everywhere she goes.  If she is not the center of attention, she pouts. 

     Emma sleeps with her kitty at the end of our bed.  She is very protective of her kitty.  She will not allow other dogs (or cats) near him.  We are not sure why they are so close, but we are very happy they are.  Emma also lives with our turtle, toad, newts, and fish.  Emma loves her family very much.

 Dog of The Day-1-18-2020

Age:Eight months old
Gender:MaleBreed: Labrador Retriever

   Moose got his name because of the fact that he is bigger than our other dog (a three-year-old Lab named Raikou) despite only being eight months old. He can sit and give you his paw, but fights a lot with his brother. He is  is a chocolate labrador. 

     We were allowed to take Moose home a week early and when we first got him back, he tried to copy everything Raikou did. When Raikou went up and down stairs Moose would leap off and would always face-plant! He can sit and give paw, but he's very naughty and normally won't do as we say. He's very fat and furry, and lets you use his stomach as a pillow, but only when he's sleepy, because otherwise he thinks you're playing a game and tries to nibble you.  

     He's special because he can't leave any of us. He is very family oriented, and in a way is a fat, stinky glue that holds us together. He is bigger than most dogs, already, and he is still growing! Our (well his) favourite game to play wrestling. He plays it with Raikou and really anyone who likes to play fight a puppy! He is always very licks, which is nice, but he smells a bit, so if you're not a dog lover, he's probably not the best dog. He's a chocolate labrador, who are famous for being not too smart and fat! But we love him just as he is.
