My name is Lily and this is a picture of me doing what I do best. I have been told there is even a Bible quote about me - "Consider the Lilys of the field, they neither toil, nor spin ..." whatever that means. I live in Houston with my mom and dad. The three of us have decided I'm the best thing that ever happened to them. I don't get reprimanded very often, but when I do, I just look at them and yawn. There are also times, on my walks, that I'll be about to do something I shouldn't and be told, "No." Sometimes I mind them, but only after weighing the consequences. There are times when chasing a cat is just too worth it!! I am very spoiled but I am also very sweet and incredibly loveable! I enjoy antagonizing my sister Chrissy (a 15-year-old Dachsund) who's become rather touchy in her old age. I also enjoy my walks immensely and will bring my mom her tennis shoes if we haven't left for our morning walk by seven sharp. Other than a large black, froo-froo Poodle, whom I can't stand, I have some very good friends who live in my neighborhood. Barney, Cajun, Tex, Bourbon and Belle are my favorites. I'm an incredible, shameless flirt and will roll on my back for any male dog. And I am incredibly confused at the rare times a human does not stop to pet me and say how cute I am. After my walks, I enjoy a 5-7 minute soak in the swimming pool - Houston is very hot! The only things I really hate are birds, frogs and especially thunderstorms. Have a good day, everybody! Dog of The day-11-24-2019

Name:Jacob
Age:One year old
Gender:MaleBreed:Spaniel mix
Home: United States
 
   Jacob was adopted because he was thrown out of a car in a plastic bag at five months old, and someone pulled over and rescued him, and we adopted him. He is about a year old, but of course we do not know his actual birthday. 

     Jacob's breed is a mystery, we think he may be part spaniel of some sort with that luxurious ear fringe, but also maybe part Sheltie, or Pomeranian - we will never know for sure. He is smart - when he wants to be, and soft and so very sweet. He loves car rides, and watches everything very attentively. We are so glad someone saw him that day. He is now a vital member of the family.

Dog of The day-12-2-2019

   Ben is our fourth Old English Sheepdog. Like the others, Ben is an endearingly impish, sweet clown of a dog. Especially when he was younger, he loved nothing more than an energetic romp in the backyard, especially if it involved fetching a ball or chasing a squirrel. Even now, he can do a respectable galumph about, even in the snow, which he loves to play in, as well as to eat. One of Ben's self-taught outdoor tricks is to take a swipe at a snowbank while not breaking stride!  

     Inside, he has made up a game that we call "rug-surfing." From the second floor of our house, he flies down the stairs as fast as he can and comes to a dead halt on the rug in the middle of the floor, making it slide. He looks at us with a big grin on his face:  "look what I can do!" 

     We really love our Ben: he's a wonderful companion.

   Tiki is a nine-year-old Lhasa Apso and he lives with us in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. We acquired Tiki when he was three months old.   He is very spoiled and very much loved.  Tiki is very protective of me and my husband and totally uninterested in other dogs.  He is very docile with wild animals - never chases the squirrels or birds that come to feed in the yard.  We also have a black cat who is Tiki's best friend.  They get along great and play together all the time.  He gets so excited when we come home from work and runs for a toy so we can play with him. 

     Tiki travels with us most of the time.  He loved to go camping.  Unfortunately, he is a little older now and arthritis has curtailed his activities.   But he still loves to go for rides in the car.  Sometimes we go for a ride just for Tiki.  Isn't it amazing how we adjust our schedules to accommodate our pets - but then, that's what animal lovers do!!

   This is a picture of my dog, Fozzie Bear.  He is a brindle and white and is a cross between a Boston Terrier and an American Eskimo (he looks mostly like the Boston Terrier side, as you can see).   

     Fozzie is now two years old but this picture is from his puppy days. I love the drip on his little chin! He is a wonderful pet aside from occasionally shredding my blankets.  Fozzie loves to run - he is super fast and sometimes hard to catch ... he reminds me of a greyhound when he bolts around the backyard, though a small and slightly fluffier one. He can thank his Eskie genes for that, and the thicker fur certainly serves him well here, as Fozzie Bear lives in Rochester, New York. His enthusiasm for all things is inspirational!

Dog of The day-12-5-2019

Age:Three months old

   Hello there, Christmas came early for our family! This is Noelle, and she is a long hair dachshund. She was born in August and adopted in mid October from a family that breeds dogs in Rancho Cucamonga,  California. She is now thirteen weeks old. Noelle lives with me at my mom's house with my younger sister who has Down syndrome in Orange County, California. 

     She is a lot of work! Every two hours I have to take her outside to potty and I can only bath her one time a month. It took me exactly three days to figure out her communication. Noelle doesnt like to be dirty and that is one of my favorite things that I love about her! When it is night time she would cry in her crate to let me know she needed to go outside. Now she sleeps with me and I have figured out a schedule and routine for her. 

     When she is outside in the back yard and I am not looking, she sometimes licks the water off the leaves and eats them. I am trying to work with her on that. This weekend will be her first time joining puppy playtime at Petco, just to get her socializing. Being a parent to Noelle has been so nice but hard. Nice to feel needed and wanted, but hard because there are times when I would just have gives her a bath and she would accidentally step in her poo which I would have to clean up her paws again. I am so grateful for her though, everyone just loves her in our home. She doesn't bark much, but when she does it is mainly at the mail man or gardener in the mornings. Noelle is sweet, playful, and funny. I am excited to see what the future will be like.
