Dog of the Day-1-31-2020


Name:	Ginger	Age:	Fifteen years old
Gender:	Male	Breed:	Cocker Spaniel
Home:	Port Jefferson Station, New York, USA
Ginger is a senior (but don't call him that to his face) cocker spaniel dog who gets around just great despite being blind. Ginger lost sight in one eye due to an accident outside and the other one to diabetes. Ginger lives happily in our house in Port Jefferson Station, New York. He loves to be scratched behind his ears and loves to play and jump all over us. Whenever we walk him, he'll come back in the house and then run around in circles until we give him a dog biscuit. He also has to cope with his brother who snaps at him for wandering too close to the food or water bowl. Blind as he is, he still leads a good life. We don't move the furniture around randomly, so he navigates from memory, and from smell we suspect. But as I said, it does not slow him down one bit, he is an inspiration to everyone who meets him. Dog of the Day-2-3-2020

   This is Kyser, my year-old American Bulldog. Kyser is a very special dog to me and my family. He always does silly things to make me and my husband smile even if we are having a bad day. Kyser loves to play ball, whether it be basketball, kickball, or just plain old catch. As you can see he don't mind taking pictures, especially when he gets to go in the woods and explore. My dog is very special to me, he knows how to comfort me when things are not going so good. Last year we had an unfortunate accident when my other two American Bulldogs ran out of the yard and got hit by a truck. I swear that was the worst day of life, but Kyser, as sad as I know he was when Bam and Ivy never came home, stood by my side while I cried and mourned the great loss that we had. If I cried, this huge puppy would crawl into my lap and hug and kiss me as if to say everything will be alright. 

      Kyser looks like a big old mean dog (according to most people), but in all reality he is just a big teddy bear who has no problem giving love to anyone who could use his charm to brighten up their day. Kisses are always available, too.

Dog of the Day-2-5-2020

Gender:MaleBreed: Bullmastiff

   As you can see from his toothy grin, Otis is a happy boy.  Bullmastiffs were kept long ago as guard dogs for the owners of animal herds.  They would pin the thief down on the ground and hold him until the owner came.  The breed can be aggressive and aren't supposed to be high on the dog I.Q. list. 

     Otis has been raised with tons of affection -lots of hugs and kisses and exposure to both strange dogs and people to socialize him.  This has enhanced our efforts doing pet therapy with a group of mentally challenged young people and senior citizens.  So, the only thing he is aggressive about is getting a bear hug from you when you enter our house. 

     I will say that he is not as trainable as my Labrador, Cody.  But herein lies the reason he is so special.  There is only one quality that is Otis - where ever he goes- on a walk in the neighborhood to see the little kids, to the senior center, or at home, he unfailingly rewards every persons attention with 140 pounds of pure love.  He doesn't need a high I.Q.-- he's got a giant size heart and doesn't think twice about giving it to you.

Dog of the Day-2-4-2020

Name:Bella 
Age:Two years old
Gender:MaleBreed: Terrier mix
Home: Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, USA
 
   We adopted Bella from our local humane society.  Bella is two years old and is a terrier mix.  She had been brought in by her family because they were moving and couldn't take her with.  She was matted and covered in fleas. She was then adopted out and then brought back the next day due to housetraining issues.  The minute I saw Bella I fell in love!  She was a little ball of energy!  I took my two children, ages six years and the other not quite two years old back to meet her. I was hesitant because I didn't know how Bella felt about children.  She gently put her paws on my toddler's shoulders and kissed her on the nose. I knew it was a match made in heaven!  

      I know a lot of animal advocates say small dogs are not good with children, but she is fantastic.  She is so sweet and patient with both of the kids. When it's time to play she goes to my six year old.  He calls her his Bella Boo.  They are best friends.  When its time to cuddle she goes to my daughter.  She calls her Bell Bell.  We have never had any housetraining issues with her.  She is a perfect little angel!  She is also very spoiled by her Nana and Grandad who stop by the house every day to let her out to go potty and to play with her! Bella completes our household of three and we will always treasure every moment we have with her!

   Hey this is Charko, a very lovely and pretty four-year-old boxer an I love him very much. 

     After I come from home from school, he's greeting me and jumping up the whole time, because he's a very out-going and excited dog. 

     Every time I come home, he wants to go for a walk .And when we come home, he's very tired and lays himself next to me when I'm doing my homework. Sometimes when I'm looking for him when I want to play, he is sleeping. 

     He often wants to stay more than two hours outside, because there are many other dogs and he likes to play with them a lot. He loves his football, as you can see, though it no longer rolls or bounces. Charko is like that and I love him, because he's the best dog in the world for me. He brings me smiles every day.
