Dog of the day-9-19-2019

Idgie is eight and a half years old and is a female dog of mixed breed. She lives in with her person, Louise, and honorary person, Michael. She lives peacefully with Sydney, her Australian cattle dog who's five years old and her black and white kitty named Parker, who came on the scene a couple of years ago and turned their world upside down but she adores her dogs. Idgie was left in a box on my door step when she was a six-week-old puppy. The box also had a bag of Puppy Chow and a note that read "I am a good puppy. All I need are my shots and your love." I found out a year later that an acquaintance in my neighborhood had noticed my interest in the neighbor's dog and thought I could use a new friend. He found Idgie lying in a dirt road in the middle of nowhere and picked her up. His hunting friends turned her down and he remarked later that they would be sorry they did if they could see her now. Idgie is smart, expressive, loving and loves to 'talk.' She eats sticks, acorns, chase squirrels and loves to flea bite Parker kitty. She loves to have the inside of her ears rubbed and reserves the sweetest expression for her person. She's the best dog friend I've ever had.

   Sam is a nice dog and he has a lot of personality. One time when he ate coffee ice cream, then he turned away and shook his head. We think the caffiene might have bothered him. But besides giving him dog food, not human food usually, my family and Itreat him just like a person. and he acts like one.  

     Sam is smart, too. When he wants water, he goes in the bathroom and barks. Someone in my family goes and turns on the faucet in the bathtub and he starts drinking. If the water is too hot or running too fast, he barks. He is a very good dog and has a great nose. He can find any toy we hide for him.

   Hi! My name is Foxy Bear.  I am a six year old Chow Chow.  My Mommy named me Foxy because I am red like a fox and my ears are like a teddy bear's ears. I was born in Charleston, SC and now live in Charlotte, NC. I love to take walks and ride in the car.  In my spare time, I like to chase birds and squirrels, but I have never caught one.  But this does not keep me from trying. 

     As the picture shows, I love all kinds of weather, except the rain.  Such a princess as I do not like to get wet. My mommy tells me that I have a wide vocabulary and cause people to have to spell words around me; especially words like "Walk" and "Car". When I hear either of these words, I go crazy!  Mommy is convinced I can read her mind and that I understand everything she says.  The fact is I can. She raised me with patience and thorough training. 

     My Mommy tells me how blessed she is to have me.  See, a few months ago I had to have a four hour surgery to remove an unknown tumor that was wrapped around my intestines.  Since this surgery, I feel like a new puppy.  I feel refreshed and light hearted.  Now I have the energy to play with my new sister, Marley.  She's a chow mix Mommy saved from the pound. 

     My Mommy also tells me I dispel the common perception most people have about Chows.  I am kind, soft hearted and gentle. Yet I am like a Chow in that I protect my home and my family. 

     I hope that my Mommy knows how much I love her because I can tell how much she loves me.  I wish that every dog, cat and pet could feel the same way I do about life.

Dog of the day-9-23-2019

Age:One and a half years old
Gender:FemaleBreed:Pitbull, German Shorthair Pointer mix
Home: Stillwater, Montana, USA
 
   Sophie is our  Pitbull Terrier, German Shorthair Pointer mix. Sophie is a very unique puppy. I have had her since she was four months old, all paws and floppy ears and wiggles. She is now all grown up and is a very sweet, extremely energetic, loving dog. She gets a bad reputation from the pitbull in her mix, but she has never shown any meanness. She loves to run around and play with other people and dogs. 

     Sophie is very special - we have never met another dog quite like her, and are so very happy she is ours. She is not "just a dog," she is a full-fledged member of the family.

Dog of the day-9-24-2019

Gender:FemaleBreed:Yorkshire Terrier

   Peanut is special because she was so tiny at birth, it is miraculous that she lived. For three weeks, she had to be hand fed. She was so tiny she was too weak to nurse. 

     Now that she is all grown up she is only two and a half pounds, but has a heart as big as can be. She is the object of much affection at our house. She's our little nugget of sweetness, and is very spoiled, as you can see from her Halloween picture from last fall. She gets special bows for every holiday of course, and does wear sweaters when it gets cold outside - she is just too small to generate much heat on her own. She is looking forward to more treats this year - not that she ever lacks any! She loves to walk on the beach and loves her cousin, Freckles, a  Dalmatian.
