Today's Dog-10-23-2019-New Thread


Name:	Kahlua	Age:	Two and a half years old
Gender:	Female	Breed:	Labrador Retriever
Home:	California, USA
This is Kahlua and she is a Chocolate Lab. She was born in Toronto, Canada but now lives in Northern California. She's a very happy and playful dog that seems to believe that she's still a little puppy. She's a bundle of energy that loves to play with balls and stuffed animals, splash in puddles and eat rawhide bones. Her hobbies include eating (dog/people food....anything), going for car rides (head sticking out the window and ears flapping in the wind, of course), going for walks (could walk for hours and even then she won't get tired), swimming (what Lab doesn't like water?), splashing in the water from the garden hose (water thing again) and playing with the other dogs at the local dog park (social butterfly). Kahlua's ready, willing and able to go anywhere at anytime. She also enjoys doing tricks like playing dead, begging, rolling over, dancing, shaking paw and a few others. Kahlua is very curious and seems to find her nose in all sorts of mischief. Perhaps she is going through the terrible two's. Her passion is stealing things around the house, especially slippers; therefore we call her the thief of slippers. She doesn't harm them in any way but just likes to take them hostage and carry them around in her mouth until she gets caught. If she gets into trouble she does her "cuckoo dog" around the house where she gets down really low to the ground and whips around the house at tremendous speeds. Kahlua can be a handful at times but she's our special girl and we love her very much.

   Lucy is a German Shorthaired Pointer! She is energetic, shiny and a bundle of joy. She is two years old. Lucy was given to us by my uncle and aunt. She has her own bedroom, with lots of squirrelies (stuffed toys). Se protects our back yard and makes sure no birds or squirrels (the live kind) drop in! 

     She is a very smart girl. has taught my husband and I how to obey her ... We keep her well supplied with treats, chewies, and more squirrelies!!! love her like she's our own child - which she is totally convinced she is!

   I got my pet for New Year's last year she was really tiny, we could fit her in one hand and she was always with me. The first day that she got home my aunt had came to see her and she had two big bottles of pop in a bag,she was caring them all around she was smaller the only one bottle, so I knew right away that even if she was small she was going to be a tough little dog. Now we got a cat and she plays with her all the time, she even drags her by the scruff, because my cat grabs her paws. They get along really well. She really likes snow, she even will try to catch snow when we throw it in the air.  

     When she gets sleepy at night she comes to see me in my room and she bugs me to put my hand on top of her head so she can pull her self up, then she puts her head right beside mine on my pillow and stays there until I get up next morning. When I'm eating she gets up on two feet and she walks around and then she comes and poke me with her two front paws so I know that she is there, and that I can give her food.We also love to dress her up in all kinds of clothing, she just stay there because she likes to take picture and she knows that if she gets dressed we will take a picture. She is one really smart dog and I love her very much.

Today's Dog-10-27-2019

   This is Winter Solstice, a.k.a. Winter. Winter has been with me about two weeks now. She will turn four months old on the 29th, so still is very much a growing (or at leaat maturing) girl.  She's being owner trained as a Psychiatric Service Dog, as I hear ghost doorbells, alarms and hear people scream in my apartment. I need a dog to alert to stuff like that. Winter is super smart, learning her commands quickly, and is very food motivated. She"s a typical sighthound - thinks with her stomach, lol! She loves to run. She is always bouncing off my futon and chair, taking death-defying leaps off them and making me worry that she'll hurt herself somehow.  

     Most importantly, she is a power cuddler and is super social. She squeals when I leave the apartment (we're working on that) and screams when kenneled (Another thing we're working on). She's already helped me with my arthritis in my wrist by laying on it (heat therapy). It helps sooth my pain.  

     I need to get her a new harness as she escapes the one she currently wears.  She's TINY!!! I might splurge and get her a fancy ruff wear one  - that hopefully will be harder to escape! I love my little brat!

Gender:FemaleBreed:Chow Chow, Collie, Shepherd mix
Home: Rancho Santa Margarita, California, USA
 
   Our dog's name is Sunny, she is a three-year old Chow Chow, Collie, Shepherd mix, best as we can tell, anyway. She lives in Rancho Santa Margarita, California.  She is special because she was abandoned in the California desert as a puppy. How anyone could ever abandon such an adorable pup we will never know. But she was discovered, rescued, and has been part of our family ever since. 

     Now, three years later, she is extremely protective of our home and family, true to her breed heritage. And yet at the same time, she is the sweetest dog I have ever seen. She is not only beautiful and soft as can be, but has become an integral member of the family.
