Today's Dog-6-30-2019-New Thread
| Name: | Mavis
| Age: | Two years old
| Gender: | Female | Breed: | English Bulldog
| Home: | Austin, Texas, USA | Mavis is the most awesome dog on earth! There are so many reasons why - her loving disposition (even when her little brother is biting her feet), her cute sour mug, allowing mom and dad to photograph her in her embarrassing costume ... I could go on and on!!
One of the most amazing things about Mavis is that she's survived horrible pneumonia/kennel cough. Our friend, the breeder, sold her to another family at first. But then she got really sick. I don't think her first family realized the special needs of her breed, and so they brought her back. Mavis nearly died, but my friend and his family nursed her back to health. However, their vet said that she probably would never fully recover, and might always have respiratory problems. My friend told us about Mavis, and how he wanted to find a good home for her, with a family that would be sensitive to her health.
So of course we took her in, and love and care for her the best we can. She's lived with us for a year, and I'm happy to say that she doesn't even have breathing problems anymore, except for the occasional allergy-sniffles. I'm so proud of her accomplishments! She's my best friend. :-)

Today's Dog-7-1-2019
| Name: | Max
| Age: | Eight years old
| Gender: | Male | Breed: | Labrador Retriever, Pointer mix
| Home: | Enniscorthy, County Wexford, Ireland | Max is the most chill dog I have ever had. He looks so regal when he is sitting down and just sniffing to see what's going on around him. I got him off a lady in a pet shop when he was fourteen weeks old and he came right up to me and gave me his paw and I thought, I have to have him. I always smile looking into his big golden eyes and love seeing him happy. I brought him home and got on really well with the other dogs, few years later he got sick and had a few seizures with an unknown cause. Eventually it passed, as quick as it came, but he was never the same.
Max is fun, he does the "pointer" pose (never taught him, he just knows it). He does it a lot. and he looks like he is hunting, its the cutest! He loves the water and loves to be dried with a towel he will go out in the rain or into the river just to get dried. He doesn't bark and will lick my ears in the morning to wake me up, and sleeps under the blankets with me, if I am away he will lay on my pillow till I get back, and I am inseparable from him he is my everything I could not imagine life without him in it. He is my shadow and my light.

Today's Dog-7-2-2019
| Name: | King
| Age: | One year old
| Gender: | Male | Breed: | Bloodhound
| Home: | Southfield, Michigan, USA | I would like to introduce my Bloodhound, King. He is one year old, roughly 110 pounds (50 kg) and counting. He lives in Southfield Michigan with his Basset Hound housemate, Maggie.
One of the things that makes King special is that due to a rare recessive gene he has a long coat. This makes him extra soft and fluffy, and very unique. King is also one of only five Bloodhounds with a Novice Trick Dog title through Do More With Your Dog, and can perform tricks such as speak, wave, spin, jump through a hoop, and take a bow to finish it off. His registered name is Thunder Valley"s Fairy King Harlequin NTD.
Despite his immense size, King"s favorite spot to lounge is on my bay windowsill where he can watch out the window and take a nice nap in the sun. His favorite activities, besides annoying his older sister, include chasing bubbles in the back yard, and going to work with his mom who is a dog trainer. King turns heads wherever he goes. Kids are often scared of him because he"s so big, but he absolutely loves all people and other dogs. Really, he is a big love bug, though living with him often feels like living with a well-intentioned bear.
Many people don"t think hounds are very smart, but King is here to prove them wrong. Recently he learned to open all the doors in my house, much like the velociraptors in Jurassic Park. He loves learning new things and has even tried his paw at agility.
Overall, King is a handsome, funny and sweet boy.

Today's Dog-7-3-2019
| Name: | Oscar
| Age: | Eleven years old
| Gender: | Male | Breed: | Dachshund
| Home: | Missouri, USA | His name is Oscar and he is 11 years old. He is, of course, a Dachshund. He also has a friend I rescued from an animal shelter named "Junior." Oscar has been with us since he was three months old. He is so playful, loves to tease, and has a special red ball he loves above all other toys. He goes where ever we go, and loves to ride in the car.
Oscar has Cushing's disease, which is something his breed is prone to, so we give him medication for it to keep him healthy. That said, he is still and will always be a playful, happy, puppy. :) Here he's wearing his Uncle Sam hat to wish you all Happy 4th! Hugs, Angel

Today's Dog-7-4-2019
| Name: | Stormie, Boomer
| Age: | Ten years old, Eleven years old
| Gender: | Female, Male | Breed: | Boston Terrier
| Home: | New Berlin, Wisconsin, USA | This is a photo of our Boston Terriers celebrating the 4th of July - Independence Day - by wearing patriotic T-shirts and eagle hats.
They are our fifth and sixth Bostons over the course of 31 years! They are lively, affectionate, smart, and inquisitive. They are devoted "velcro" companions who like treats, car rides, walks, chasing squirrels and guarding the house and yard.
Both were purchased as adults from Grayhaven Bostons of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Boomer is a retired show dog. Stormie was intended for breeding but is too tiny at ten pounds. She makes Boomer look huge at eighteen pounds, but he is actually average sized. Her AKC name is Grayhavens Tempest in a Teacup (Stormie) and he is Grayhavens Bonafide Brainstorm (Boomer). Althouth Boomer is almost twice Stormie's size, she is the boss and the alpha.
They both know the same tricks, including sit, stay, come, shake, dance, twirl/spin, rollover, play dead and jump for a treat held high overhead. Like all Bostons, they are wearing a fur black and white tuxedo.
Both dogs LOVE people. The neighborhood kids are very interested in them and think it is hilarious when the dogs lick them all over. They hate rain and snow but Boomer in particular refuses to go outside in storms without a nudge. Like most flat faced breeds they are very heat and cold sensitive.
No house is a home without a few Bostons running around snorting!!
Hugs,Angel |
