Dog of The Day-3-1-2020 - New Thread

Gender:	Female	Breed:	American Pitbull Terrier
Home:	Moore, South Carolina, USA
Penny is a six-year-old American Pitbull Terrier, and lives in Moore, South Carolina. We adopted her at three months old from an animal shelter in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where she was documented as a "Dalmatian mix." Imagine our surprise, when we got her DNA test results back! Penny would prefer to be an only dog ... but she does a good job (most days) of tolerating her two siblings, Browning and Colt. Penny gets lots of compliments, because she is quite photogenic. And, she loves to smile! Some of her favorite things are her Kong squeaky balls, peanut butter, and romping around outside. My husband travels a lot for work, and I always feel safe with Penny around. She is a loyal and fierce protector of her family! We are so happy that she was added to our wolfpack, and we love her so much!

   Hi! My name is Bailey! I am a nine-month-old Irish Doodle from Louisiana! My owners adopted me when I was nine weeks old, a little before they got my dog brother, Beaux. I also have another dog brother, who's name is Buddy. Buddy is a Golden Retriever and has a long tail that is really fun to play with. Yup, we all have "B" names, works for us! 

     I absolutely love people. My favorite is when my human best friend comes over. She will come let me out when my parents aren't home, and we play so much. She also takes me on walks and I love to cuddle after we take our walks. 

     I love playing other puppies as well. My brothers, and some neighbor pups are fun to play with. I am a huge fluff ball and just love to have fun! After all, girls just wanna have fun!

Dog of The Day-3-5-2020

Gender:MaleBreed: Golden Retriever

   This is a picture of Cody.  He is three years old here, and although he is thirteen now, this remains my favorite picture of my Golden boy. It shows him in the woods, one of his favorite places to be. And it is early in the hike, so there are no leaves embedded in his coat from joyfull rolls in them. He is a Golden Retriever that resides in New Jersey.  Cody is special because he saved my husband's life from being bitten by a copperhead snake and took the bite for him while we were hiking. We were able to get him to a vet right away, and Cody made a full recovery.  

     Cody has a golden personality, too! He is not just heroic, he is sweet as can be. His coat is so soft, and he loves being brushed. He looks so handsome afterwards, and he seems to be proud. He loves affection and attention, and thinks everyone is his new potential good friend. We love him so much, he is our Golden boy forever!

Dog of The Day-3-7-2020

Age:Eight years old
Gender:FemaleBreed:American Staffordshire terrier mix
Home: Toledo, Ohio, USA
 
   Dixie is an ~8 year old American Staffordshire terrier mix,  living in the Toledo OH area.   

     Dixie was found as a stray on the streets around Detroit, Michigan, was rescued by a shelter and eventually turned over to Lucas County Pit Crew to treat some health issues.  At the time we first saw, we were not looking for a dog and really sure we were ready for another.  We had been through a very tough year and half losing three dogs, Sadie, Cincy and Spot, and had just moved to a new house.  It was around Thanksgiving and with many large family gatherings planned we just didn't feel it was the right time to add to the family.  So we waited.  And about six weeks later, when this beautiful girl was still available, we decided we had to meet her.   

     Dixie was the perfect dog at the perfect time.  Her favorite things are laying in the sun, playing ball (but not for too long, her little legs wear out quick) and snuggling up to her human kids.  She recently had a knee replacement, but has bounced back strong and still loves to tear down the stairs in the morning and jump on the beds at night to tuck everyone in.  She loves to be read to, get belly rubs (those get a big smile!) and even tolerates walks in the park.  She is our Dog of the Day, every day!

   I got Arlo at a year old from someone who couldn't keep him anymore. One of my other dogs had passed away recently I couldn't help but feel like there was something missing in my life. Apparently I was missing chaos, because that is Arlo. He's the sweetest dog, he loves to cuddle, he loves people of all ages and other dogs. He also loves to run off and destroy things, he's a handful at times but we love him very much.  

     He is obsessed with fetching and will bring you toys all night if you let him. He loves to go hiking and camping, he's always game for any adventure. I love how sweet he is with kids, they are his favorite kind of people. He is extremely smart and very motivated to learn,Amyhe can pick up things fast, especially with rewards of food or toys. If only I could teach him to not run off (I've tried) he would basically be perfect. Arlo is the best cuddler and a great addition to our family.
